How was everybody’s weekend? I had a weekend packed full of adventure. Saturday was spent at the movies seeing Trainspotting 2 (This will be discussed more on Thursday…). I then spent the rest of the day at Americana. If you don’t know what Americana is, it a yearly event where people enter their American cars. They can be new, vintage, unusual, yellow school buses, police cars, etc. They shut down the main road of whatever town they happen to be in and theirs food stalls, bands and just a general good day for the family. Although I don’t have much interest in cars, it’s always fun just to stroll around in the atmosphere of it all.
Sunday was then spent at the Ohakea Air Tattoo. This event has around 50,000 people attend! Their were planes and helicopters from New Zealand, Australia, America, Japan and Singapore. This event was amazing! For a around four hours there were different planes doing different tricks and displays in the sky. Some of these I found boring (if you are a plane or air force enthusiast you wouldn’t have been I’m sure) but overall it was an amazing experience. There were so many hands on information tents and planes you could look through – and we did – that you are interested in the air force and aviation you would not go home disappointed!
I must apologise for not posting a recipe over the weekend. I have post with a super indulgent treat all written up and ready to go but unfortunately I am having some technical difficulties with my recipe card. The recipe card is where I write out the recipe so it displays all nice and pretty on my blog and allows you to print it with ease. I have emailed support and they are working on resolving the issue so fingers crossed that is fixed very soon! (Don’t ya just looove technology?…)
To make up for no new recipe over the weekend I have updated photos and new video for you instead! Remember these Chocolate Pecan Squares? This recipe was one of my old posts from my old blog that I started in 2014. The photos were not the greatest (as you can see below) so I thought it was time for an update. These bars have a melt-in-the-mouth shortbread base with a creamy, almost brownie like top that’s packed full of pecans. These bars are so delicious and I feel like the old photos don’t do them justice, nor do they sell them. I hope these updated one’s encourage you to give them a go….
Not only have I updated these photos, I have also created a short video tutorial for the Boysenberry Cheesecake Shortcake recipe. This recipe is one of those recipes that you just can’t get enough of. It’s such a versatile recipe and is fit for so many occasions. Birthdays, Christmas, brunch, dinner party, family gathering, snacks, heck even breakfast! Trust me, you want, no, NEED to give this recipe a go.
