It really does mean the world to me and I can’t wait to take Lights, Camera, Bake! to NEW heights in 2018. I hope you’ll continue to follow me and grow in your baking skills with me!
What better way to celebrate 2017 than to share my top 10 recipes in 2017 with. These recipes are based on the most viewed and shared recipes from my blog.
Number One: Bare Bottomed Flourless Brownies
These brownies were a hit! They’re fudgy, gooey, rich and full of chocolate but I was surprised at that these took the top spot! Some people don’t like the name (I was only having a little fun) and all I mean’t by it is there is a layer of white chocolate on the base of these brownies so there is no brownie batter at the bottom. So the bottom is bare. A bit of fun and some got it others, well, didn’t. Still the most popular recipe though so that is awesome!
Number Two: Cookie Dough Cheesecake Bars
Creamy, rich vanilla cheesecake with homemade safe to eat cookie dough throughout on top an Oreo biscuit base.
It’s not hard to see why these came in at number two! These bars have to be cone of my absolute favourites and the cheesecake really is to die for!
Number Three: Black Velvet Cupcakes
Black Velvet Cupcakes are soft, fluffy and moist, have the same flavour as red velvet but are completely black!
I was quite surprised at how popular this recipe was! I created the cupcakes as we finally had black food colouring in the supermarkets in my town and I wanted to experiment. Not everyone is a fan of the temporary mouth colour stain and some people complain that black food colouring has a bad taste. (I don’t know if it’s the brand you use but I use Queen or Hansells and they have been fine). These cupcakes are fun for a showstopping dessert or Halloween!
Number Four: Triple Chocolate Mousse Cake
Triple Chocolate Mousse Cake is a flourless chocolate cake with layers chocolate and white chocolate mousse. The great thing about this cake is that it is automatically gluten free and wheat free.
Of course this cake would be a hit! Triple chocolate? How could it not be! This was definitely some of my trusty taste testers favourite recipes.
Number Five: Egg White Brownies
Egg White Brownies are soft, fudgy, chewy, gooey, rich and packed full of chocolate chips. They’re also flourless!
Another recipe that surprised me to make the list! Just goes to show you can never judge what will be popular or not. I am a huge fan of these brownies and the idea actually came to me when I was making a Pavlova for Christmas one year. I just love how light and fluffy the egg whites make the brownies while still being rich and fudgy.
Number Six: Slutty Brownies 2.0
Slutty brownies 2.0 combine the cookie dough base, Oreo middle and fudge brownie top just like the original but we then add a homemade caramel sauce and homemade hot fudge sauce right there in the middle with the Oreos.
I’m seeing a brownie pattern going on here… These brownies had to be a hit! So over-the-top and indulgent, you would be mad not to try them. I don’t know who made up the name Slutty Brownies but I stuck with it so readers would recognize the brownie and know what I have done to make them the 2.0 version.
Number Seven: Salted Caramel Layer Cake
A four layer caramel cake with salted caramel between each layer, iced with caramel icing, topped with more salted caramel sauce and broken chocolate honeycomb candy bars.
One of my first really over-the-top bakes and a recipe that took a long time to perfect. I wanted this cake to have as much caramel as possible and I’m so glad you love the recipe and that my time and “taste testing” sessions paid off!
Number Eight: Nutella White Chocolate Blondies
Soft and delicious white chocolate blondies filled with pockets of ooey, gooey Nutella.
One of my absolute favourites so I’m glad these made the list! Anything Nutella is good in my books and apparently yours too.
Number Nine: Death By Chocolate Poke Cake
Gooey, buttery, rich, soft, dense and lots of chocolate is thrown in this poke cake.
Again you guys are on the same wave length as me… Chocolate! I have to say this cake is definitely a death by chocolate cake and the fact that its a poke cake so it’s gooier than a regular cake just takes this to the next level. I’m so glad you guys love the cake!
Number Ten: Red Velvet Cake Pops
The beloved red velvet cake flavours of not-quite vanilla and not-quite chocolate mixed with cream cheese icing and lovingly covered in white chocolate. All the flavours of red velvet cake in a small truffle.
YES! They made the list. Of all the things I have baked a shared with you these cake pops have been tasted tested by more people than any other of my recipes. I’ve had friends, family, even strangers try them! I’ve had people who say they don’t like red velvet or cake pops or white chocolate try these… Every single person has then said except if its these cake pops! Truly a must make and I love how cute these are. Perfect for a New Year party 😉
