Malteser Cookies are soft and chewy, malted, chocolate chip cookies with crushed Maltesers throughout.

Maltesers are one of my favourite chocolate treats! From my Malteser Chocolate Cake to my Malteser Fudge, right through to my Malteser Cookie Bars, it's not hard to see why!
There's just something about the light, airy and crunchy malted filling with the sweet chocolate outside that just sings to me. Anyone else have candy sing to them?
Hmm.. Just me?
Okay...
Moving on!
As you will see from the video below, these cookies couldn't be simpler to make! One bowl and a hand mixer is optional. You can you a hand mixer if you have access to one or you can use some good ole' elbow grease and mix by hand with a wooden spoon!
These are the same as any good chocolate chip cookie. We have butter and sugar creamed together until fluffy. I also add brown sugar to my cookies as it gives a rich depth of flavour and adds to the moisture and chew of the cookies. Add eggs and vanilla extract. It's important to use good quality vanilla extract where possible!
Add your dry ingredients of flour and raising agents. Here we change things up from a regular chocolate chip cookie. We add malted milk powder. I believe in some places it's called Horlicks or Carnation has a malt powder too.
Mix in some chocolate chips and some chopped Maltesers or Whoppers -depending on where you are in the world - and that's it!
It's important to chill the cookie dough for an hour so the cookies don't spread too much but otherwise bake them for 12-15 minutes and you have perfectly soft and chewy Malteser Cookies straight from the oven or chilled with a cup of coffee!
I hope you enjoy this recipe! I have made these cookies too many times to count and if you make this or any of my other recipes, be sure to #lightscamerabake on Instagram and subscribe to my YouTube Channel for more fun videos.
